Epps: Alabama shows heart despite loss
ATLANTA — Someone compared Saturday’s Alabama-Florida game to a Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier fight, and in many ways, the SEC championship bout offered a similar storyline to the memorable Thrilla in Manila fight. Alabama was, indeed, Frazier: Stubborn, unyielding, relentless and respected in defeat.

SEC Blog: Kiffin comparisons still hot
Oh my gosh. After making the detailed comparison between Mike Shula and Lane Kiffin in last Saturday’s column (and let me tell you, that got a great response from the Tennessee fans), I did some Googling, ahem, of Kiffin’s wife and eventually developed even more comparisons.

Epps: Saban shows faith in Tide; Fulmer punts
KNOXVILLE — One coach called for a punt on fourth-and-1 in the first quarter, again on fourth-and-short in his opponent’s territory and yet again on fourth-and-1 in the third quarter.

Epps: Chapman will miss Cody but is ready to replace him
The legend of Terrence Cody is real, you know. Like the time he ran two and a half miles up a mountain in high school. Or the time he palmed a laptop computer. Or the time he plopped down on a futon and broke it.

Listened to Paul Finebaum’s interview of former Auburn offensive coordinator Tony Franklin, and now I’m thinking: there are going to be some potential offensive coordinators who are seriously concerned about taking a job there.

CD Reviews: Justin Townes Earle: “The Good Life.” Bloodshot Records.

For those who loved country before Music Row smothered it in studio laquerwork or who are just fans of flavorful southern music with short attention spans, here’s the skinny on singer/songwriter Justin Townes Earle’s studio debut “The Good LIfe”: as soon as it hits shelves March 25, pick it up.
