Young: A generally boring year leads NASCAR into offseason of uncertainty
NASCAR blog: Things I’d like to see in NASCAR next year
Since I ran out of room in Sunday’s season-ending column to include some of the things I think should happen this coming NASCAR season, I’ll use the blogosphere to finish my thoughts.

Young: No-testing rule is a good NASCAR move
We criticize NASCAR for many of its moves, but Friday’s announcement that there will be a no-testing policy next season is a definite move in the right direction.

What will NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series look like when Speedweeks come around in February?

NASCAR blog: Johnson is vanilla — so what?
Some NASCAR fans dislike Jimmie Johnson because he’s boring, robot-like and, well, very vanilla. It’s true, he’s all those things, but why is that a problem?

Young: Roush’s ‘do-over’ wouldn’t hurt Johnson
Surely, when he’s away from the NASCAR spotlight, Matt Kenseth laughs when he thinks about the current state of the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.

NASCAR blog: Tough financial times can make NASCAR better
I saw a fascinating column on ESPN.com by veteran NASCAR beat writer Ed Hinton this week. It sheds a different light on the doom and gloom forecasts for the sport.

NASCAR blog: Atlanta track is a great race venue, but fans stay away
Ed Clark doesn’t deserve this.

Young: Burton will not change his style
Jeff Burton wouldn’t mind it at all if he could retain his usual under-the-radar image. Unfortunately for the 41-year-old veteran, his win last week at Charlotte and ascent to second place in the Chase standings took care of that.

NASCAR blog: Don’t be surprised if Martinsville loses its Chase date
Could this be Martinsville’s last race on NASCAR’s Sprint Cup circuit?

Young: Johnson-Knaus pairing is highly effective
If the first four races in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship have proven anything, it’s just how important the relationship between driver and crew chief is.

NASCAR blog: Junior emphatic that Smith got a bad deal
It’s no secret in NASCAR which drivers will shoot you straight in an interview.

‘Laying back’ strategy popular at Talladega
It’s not often a driver will give an honest answer regarding strategy at the Talladega Superspeedway. Then again, Greg Biffle more than once has been too honest.

CD Reviews: Justin Townes Earle: “The Good Life.” Bloodshot Records.
2008-02-11
For those who loved country before Music Row smothered it in studio laquerwork or who are just fans of flavorful southern music with short attention spans, here’s the skinny on singer/songwriter Justin Townes Earle’s studio debut “The Good LIfe”: as soon as it hits shelves March 25, pick it up.

Blog: Day trip to Atlanta
2008-11-19
Last Saturday, my friend Sandy Zitkus and I, along with my daughter Anne McLachlan, made an annual trip to Atlanta where we usually hit IKEA for our household needs and some Christmas gifts, as well as Trader Joe’s where we pick up a heft supply of Charles Shaw wine, lovingly known as Two-Buck Chuck for it’s extremely low price of $2.49 per bottle.
