A confident 9-year-old boy testified in court this morning about how a longtime family friend allegedly raped him almost three years ago.
But the victim also could not define the word “rape,” instead saying that he had been “fiddled” and that defendant Napoleon White had placed his “private parts” in his “bottom.”
The victim’s testimony signaled the uncomfortable start of the trial of Mr. White who is charged with two counts of child rape. Mr. White denies the charges and insisted on going to trial despite DNA evidence linked to Mr. White that was found on the inside of the boy’s rectum.
The victim is not named in accordance with Times Free Press policy.
The boy’s mother testified right before the lunch break and is expected to face cross examination this afternoon.
The incident occurred in December 2006 and Mr. White has been incarcerated on a $200,000 bond ever since.
