HAMILTON COUNTY

Daniel Anderson Jr.

Daniel Wallace Anderson Jr., 77, of Hixson, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at a local hospital.

Mr. Anderson attended Baylor School and the University of Chattanooga.

He was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church. He was in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.

Mr. Anderson was a survivor of Pork Chop Hill and received the Commendation Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel W. Anderson Sr. and Mildred Grammer Anderson.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Parks Anderson; son, Dan W. Anderson III, of Hixson; daughter, Amy Anderson Boyd of Hixson; two grandsons, Bret Anderson and Joshua Boyd, both of Hixson; brother, Joe Anderson, of Ringgold, Ga.; sisters, Madge A. Finney, of Bradenton, Fla., Dana Sue Rigsby, of Dunlap, Tenn., and Paulette Manning of Valley Head, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Heritage Chapel with Pastor Randy T. Martin officiating.

Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hixson United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Thomas Cureton

Thomas Ralph Cureton, 60, of Chattanooga, passed away at his home on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, graveside in Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Genevieve DeHoog officiating.

Interment will follow with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Turner Funeral Home Inc., Highway 58 Chapel, is in charge of arrangements 622-3171.

Charles Franklin Sr.

Charles Edward Franklin Sr., 60, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at a local hospital.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Walker; brothers, Welton Franklin, Golden and George Langston; sister, Bobby Jean Langston.

Survivors include his wife, Sabrina Franklin; sons, Charles E. Franklin Jr., Reginald Holland; daughter, SaTari (Joseph) Durrah; brothers, Robert (Hazel) Langston, Clyde (Monica) Langston, Andrew Langston and Ernest Franklin; sister, Alice Langston; other relatives.

Services will be held at 1:30 today, Oct. 26, 2009, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home chapel.

Interment in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The body will lie in state today until the funeral at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.

Ethel McKissic

Ethel McKissic, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, in a local health care facility.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga Inc.

Daryl Norris

Daryl Elizabeth Patterson Norris, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, following a brief illness.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Steve McCary officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home (7414 Old Lee Highway) from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to their departure for the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.

Carl Poston Sr.

Carl Poston Sr., 82, of Knoxville, formerly of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, while pheasant hunting in Watertown, S.D.

The celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. today, Oct. 26, 2009, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Sexton officiating.

Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

Tim Schneller

Timothy Jacob Schneller, 27, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, in a local hospital.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Eugene Meyer; and paternal grandparents, Carl and Dorothy Schneller.

Tim attended Sunnyside and Barger Elementary Schools before graduating from East Ridge High School. He received his bachelor's degree in entrepreneurship and marketing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He also studied abroad in church-related missions at Avondale College in Australia.

He formerly owned and operated a lawn service company and was currently employed as an insurance agent with Liberty National.

He was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and was an avid cyclist and skateboarder. He loved to help people.

Survivors include his parents, Karl and Marilyn Schneller, of Chattanooga; maternal grandmother, Frances Meyer, of Ferdinand, Ind.; extended grandparents, Walter and Frances Pabis, of Allegan, Mich.; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and his beloved English bulldog, "Mac."

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Buddy Nichols officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Brainerd Baptist Church or McDonald Road SDA Church.

Harry Strickland Jr., 52, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at his home.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alfreda McMillan.

Survived by his wife, Janet Strickland; children, Harry III and Franklin Strickland; James and Coleman Hogue, Janakia Hymes and Melissa Hogue; grandchildren, Trevon and Angelia Hymes and Harry Strickland IV; father, Harry Strickland Sr.; sister, Sherry Payne; members of the Hill and Strickland families.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at Ruth Cofer Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.

Wanda Faye Uren White, 70, of Chattanooga, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009.

Jake Williams

James Clyde "Jake" Williams, 81, of East Ridge, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the South Crest Chapel with the Rev. J.R. Caines and the Rev. Joe Dodd officiating.

Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

Randy Lee

RELIANCE -- Randy Lee, 51, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009.

Funeral service 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, in the South Chapel with visitation 6-8 p.m. prior.

Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Morgan Cemetery.

Bertha Morrison

WHITWELL -- Bertha Morrison, 97, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan Morrison; parents, Dan and Creddie Morrison; sisters, Louise Wozinicki, Minnie Andrews; brothers, Lonnie Morrison, Theodore Morrison, James Morrison; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Morrison.

Mrs. Morrison was a great prayer warrior and member of Whitwell Church of God for over 60 years. She served as secretary of the church and a Sunday school teacher for 25 years. She was also a devoted mother, wife and friend.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Willie (Rudy) Morrison Saylors Bischoff, of South Pittsburg, Tenn., Ray "Bud" Morrison, of Whitwell; sisters, Myrtle Hicks, of Whitwell, Lillie Bish, of St. Joe, Miss., Virgie Taylor, of Crossville, Tenn.; brother, Joe Morrison, of Marion, Ind.; six grandchildren, Norris Wampy Condra, Bobby "Rooter" Morrison, Valerie Morrison, Kim Morrison, Angela Cookston, Christy Claunch; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. CDT today, Oct. 26, 2009, at Whitwell Church of God with the Rev. Phillip Higgins, the Rev. Tommy Quick and Bishop Clayton Privett officiating.

Interment at Whitwell Memorial Cemetery.

Troy Sivley

CHARLESTON -- Troy Lee Sivley, 44, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Sivley; son, Jonathon Sivley; daughters, Michaela E. Sivley and Cristyn Woody.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home.

Visitation from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ADAIRSVILLE -- Lillian Harris Richard, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Omega Church of God in Christ in Adairsville with Pastor Billy Harris officiating.

Interment in Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Carl Steele

GUNTERSVILLE -- Carl Eugene Steels, 71, formerly of Rising Fawn, Ga., died Saturday Oct. 24, 2009.

Mr. Steele is survived by his wife, Glynda Steele, of Guntersville; two daughters; Vicki (Eugene) Tremmier, Jackson, Miss., Amber (Shawn) Ryan, Trenton, Ga.; five grandchildren, Brakley (Rachael) Tremmier, Tiffany Tremmier, Matalyn Ryan, Jaxon Ryan, Emerald Ryan; two great-grandchildren, Alora and Alana Tremmier, Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. EDT Tuesday at the graveside at Carl Steele Family Cemetery with the Rev. Reece Fauscett officiating.

The family will receive friends 4-9 p.m. EDT today.
