Elizabeth Adamson
Elizabeth “Ebbie” Wingo Adamson, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Adamson attended Mountain Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Adamson; parents, Melmoth and Thelma Wingo; brothers, Terry Wingo, Kent and Doris Wingo; sisters, Pauline and Marvin Bruce, Mary Lou and Elbert Bruce.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Inez and Bill McCardell, of Acworth, Ga., Fay and Buddy McFarland, Paulette and Jim Thurman, Kay and Wayne Hodge; son and wife, Greg and Louise Adamson, all of Chattanooga; brothers, Bill and Clela Wingo, Aron and Betty Jo Wingo, Glover and Pat Wingo; sister-in-law, Billie Jean Wingo; grandchildren, Saundra, Mark, Becky, Nick, Keith, Kevin, Wendy, Michael Paul, Sarah; great grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Kayla, Betsy, Savanah, Garett, Tanner, Tyler, Erich, Ashley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 2:30 p.m. at the North Chapel with the Rev. Tylan Blansit officiating.
Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 23, and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the North Chapel.

Jack Basinger
William A. “Jack” Basinger Jr., 91, of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, in a local hospital.
Mr. Basinger was born in Huntsville, Ala., and had lived in Chattanooga for the past 33 years. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and also held memberships in the Alhambra Shrine, Scottish Rites and Ooltewah Masonic Lodge 741.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Ed (Kathy) Biggs, Donna Gaydosh and Mark Biggs; two stepgreat-grandsons, Robert and Richard Klein; three great-granddaughters, Arielle and Chelsey Gaydosh and Kaylee Biggs; great-grandson, Kyle Biggs; niece, Bettye Smith.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating.
Interment will be in Varnell Cemetery.

Arabula Carruth
Arabula Ralston Carruth, 88, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
She was a member of Lookout Valley Presbyterian Church and the Lookout Valley Lions Club. Mrs. Carruth was retired from Miller Brothers Department Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Oval Carruth; daughter, Michon Eileen Burgay; and a twin sister, Myrle Potter.
Survivors include two sons, J. Michael Carruth and Randy Carruth, both of Chattanooga; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Benton Potter, of Mineral Bluff, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Grady Davidson officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.

Frances Cooper
Frances Givens Cooper, 81, of Signal Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
Frances was born in Atlanta, on July 24, 1928, to Benjamin Franklin Givens and Ruby Heins Givens. She graduated from Fletcher High School in Jacksonville Beach, Fla., having been elected Most Intellectual and Most Athletic in her senior class. She attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga., where she was a dean’s list student; then transferred to Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, where she was also on the dean’s list as a top scholar. While there, she attended business classes at Emory University as well. Frances graduated from Agnes Scott with a bachelor’s degree in business economics and a minor in psychology. After graduation she worked as a claims reviewer for Retail Credit (Equifax).
In the Church of the Redeemer in Greenville, S.C., Frances served as Sunday school teacher, Chapter Chairman, and successively as Treasurer and President of the Women of the Church. In Gastonia, N.C., at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, she served on the Altar Guild, and was Chapter Chairman and President of the Women of the Church. Since 1972, Frances has been a dedicated member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church of Signal Mountain, where she served as Chairman of St. Monica’s and a term as Treasurer of the Women of St. Timothy’s. She also served on the Outreach Commission, the Pulpit Committee, and the Worship Commission.
Frances was secretary of the Signal Mountain Garden Club, and volunteered for many years as a tutor in the READ Program, teaching illiterate adults to read, which she described as one of the most rewarding activities she had ever done. Frances also worked several years for H&R Block and for the Decosimo CPA firm. For one and a half years, she was a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for the Juvenile Court.
A lovable and gregarious lady, Frances had a host of warm friends. She was a devoted wife and mother; a music lover, an artist, and a great reader; as well as an avid tennis player and golfer. Frances was involved in the PTA at her children’s various schools as well as book clubs and hospital auxiliaries. She was a member of the American University Women. In Chattanooga she was the assistant to the librarian at Moccasin Bend Hospital, and a helper for the Volunteer Community Kindergarten. She was also a member of the Falling Water chapter of Questers, in which she has held various offices.
Frances is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Vivian Filson Cooper Jr.; brother Benjamin Franklin Givens Jr., and wife, Linda; children, Beverly Gail Cooper and Robert Filson Cooper and wife, Ann; son-in-law, Milton F. Capps; grandchildren, William Capps, Jessica Capps, Katherine Cooper, Christine Cooper and Rebecca Cooper; sister-in-law, Virginia Herron and husband, Clyde; nieces, Julie Herron Carson, Patty Herron Hunter, Teresa Givens Walters, Pamela Givens Harriman, and Linda Givens; and nephew, Clay Herron and wife Martha.
Frances was predeceased by her much-loved daughters, Marion Lee Cooper and Vivian Frances Cooper-Capps.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 24, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 630 Mississippi Ave., Signal Mountain, with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. The officiants will be the Rev. Kathryn Mathewson and the Rev. Peter Kanyi.
Frances will be interred in the columbarium at St. Timothy’s.

Frances Jean Crawford, 61, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, in a local hospital.
She was employed by Seaboard Farms for many years and later cooked at a healthcare facility.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Katherine Appleberry; son, Greg Crawford; grandson, Jasmonte’ Smith.

Thomas Ralph Curton, 60, of Chattanooga, passed away at his home on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009.

Irving Eichenthal
Irving Eichenthal passed away on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009. He was 86 years old.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Bernice Eichenthal.
He is survived by his son, David; his daughter-in-law, Bea Lurie; and his two grandchildren, Seth and Emily. He was the last of seven brothers and sisters.
He lived most of his life in New York, growing up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and lived in Brooklyn for over 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe with the U.S. Army.
Since moving to Chattanooga in 2002, he became active in the Beth Sholom Congregation and served on its board of directors until his death. Its members became his family.
During the last weeks of his life, he enjoyed his brief time at Elm Croft Assisted Living and received extraordinary care from the staff of Erlanger Hospital and Hospice of Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Beth Sholom Congregation at 20 Pisgah Ave.
Burial will follow immediately at B’nai Zion Cemetery.

Martha Schenck Evans, 88, of Chattanooga, the wife of the late Kenneth Evans, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009.
A speech therapist in the Hamilton County School System her true loves were music, hiking, and table tennis.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Davick and Margaret Maxwell.

Michelle Gould, 50, of East Ridge, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at her home.

Earline Goza, 80, of Hixson, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, in Huntsville, Ala.
She was an employee of DuPont Chemical Co. for over 35 years and was a member of Tiftonia Holiness Church for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Jim and Sophia Goza; sister, Edna Brown; brothers, Hugh, Era and Arlyn Goza.

Robert “Bobby” Gravitt Jr., 73, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was a devoted Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and an inspiration to all those that knew him.
He is a native to the Soddy-Daisy area with being an alumnus of Soddy-Daisy High’s class of 1954 and a longtime member of Daisy Church of God and was employed by Dixie Souvenirs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys Gravitt; brothers, Olah and Odis Gravitt; and sister, Opal Harper.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jayna Lewis Gravitt; son, Michael Gravitt (Teresa Gravitt); daughter, Vicki Varner, all of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren include Jennifer Coleman (Johnathan Coleman), Tiffany Varner, Erica Gravitt and Adam Gravitt; great-granddaughter, Adison Coleman; and step-grandchildren, Tabatha Hall, Mitchell Wheeler, Matthew McMinn and Sierra Coleman; sister, Oma Harper.

Grace Tallant Hudson, 88, of Ooltewah went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
She was a teacher with Hamilton County School System at Ooltewah High School and Ooltewah Elementary School, retiring in 1977.
Mrs. Hudson was a member of Ooltewah, Baptist Church and Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association.

Hazel Harris McKeehan, 79, of Soddy-Daisy, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
Hazel was born in DeKalb County, Ala., and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. She retired from DuPont with over 35 years of service and after retirement worked for Marks and Morgan Jewelers for 15 years. She attended The Crossing formerly East Ridge Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Jenny Bell Drain Harris.
Hazel is survived by her husband of 57 years, Amos “Mac” McKeehan; son, Mark McKeehan and wife, Angie; three granddaughters, Kamryn McKeehan, Jillian and Sophie Roberts; sister and brother-in-law, Jewell and Clifford Kilgore; several nieces and nephews.

Fredrick William Orrell, 66, of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at a local hospital.
A native of Chattanooga, he was the son of the late Frances Davenport Orrell. He had been employed in the Chattanooga Parks Department and with Lee Smith Inc, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving is his father, Frank Winfield Orrell, of Chattanooga.

Greg Rector, 50, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2009.
He was a member of Mountain Creek Church of Christ. Greg was a very talented musician and singer; he opened many concerts for several well known artists such as George Jones and Jerry Lee Lewis. He worked as a painter out of the Painters Local Union 226.
He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Rector.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Rector; son, Bradley Rector; daughters, Bridgett Rector (Zack Holder), Starla (Aaron) Johnston; father, Mack Rector; sister, Valerie Slaten; grandson, Riley Johnston; and a nephew, Richard A. Slaten.

Robert Snyder
Robert Lee Snyder, 83, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009.
A resident of Chattanooga since 1965, Mr. Snyder was retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad after 43 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II.
Mr. Snyder was a faithful member of Oakwood Baptist Church where he had served as a choir member, greeter and a member of the Adult 5 Sunday school class.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Bertie C. Snyder; sons, Wayne (Doreen) Snyder, Port St. Lucie, Fla., Larry (Teresa) Snyder, Ooltewah and Ken (Karen) Snyder, Chattanooga; brother, Oliver D. (Mary) Snyder, Spencer, N.C.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mamie Stewart McQuinn Thomas, 95, of Sale Creek, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Rhea Medical Center.
She was retired from West Point Pepperell Mills in Columbus, Ga. She worked as a cook at Sale Creek School for 14 years. She was a member of the Red Bank Senior Citizens and for 10 years served as a volunteer for Rhea Medical Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sale Creek.

JoAnn Himes Vogel, 78, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Chattanooga.
She attended St. Petersburg High School, and was employed by Florida Power and Light, and subsequently by Tornwall, Lang and Lee, CPA’s prior to her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Victor Vogel; her parents, Edwin Alfred and Margaret Anderson Himes; and brothers, Robert James Himes and James Edwin Himes.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret (Tom) Himes Lifsey, Chattanooga; and a brother, John Andrew Himes, Rochester, N.Y., as well as several nieces and nephews.

Marilynn Whiteley
Marilynn Maxwell Whiteley, 80, died on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at a local health care facility.
She was the daughter of the late Marion and Thelma McGrady Maxwell of Greenville, N.C.
Dr. Whiteley completed her undergraduate education at East Carolina Teachers College, her master’s at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and her doctorate at the University of Tennessee. She retired from the Chattanooga school system after teaching at several area elementary schools, where many students called her “Ms. Dr. Whiteley.” During her life she had been a member of the administrative board of her church, League of Women Voters, Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Delta Kappa, Kappa Kappa Iota, English Speaking Union, and the American Association of University Women.
Dr. Whiteley was a loving and devoted friend, wife, mother, and “Grammer.” She particularly enjoyed the camaraderie with her friends at their weekly “in-service” Wednesdays. She was a lifelong Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Whiteley; daughter, Margaret “Kay” Whiteley.
Survivors include her children, Ken (Cheryl) Whiteley, of Hixson, Janet (Dennis) Sullivan, of Hixson; six grandchildren, Erin (Mike) Jaynes, Beth Sullivan, Amy Sullivan, Jill Sullivan, Chara Whiteley, and Meara Whiteley. Almost like family: Brenda Kell, her wonderful daily companion and caregiver during the last year and a half.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the North Chapel with the Rev. Randy T. Martin and Paul Longmire officiating.
Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 23, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the North Chapel.

Jake Williams
James Clyde “Jake” Williams, 81, of East Ridge, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, in a local hospital.
He was born June 28, 1928 in Spiro, Okla. In 1935 his family moved back to the Flintstone, Georgia community where his great-grandparents settled in the early 1800s. Jake was educated in the public schools of Rossville and joined the U.S. Navy in 1945. Following his service to his country, he graduated from Edmonson School of Business and retired from DuPont following 38 years of service. Jake was a member of East Ridge Presbyterian Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class and he was a lifetime member of the Allemande Hall where he loved western square dancing. As a great lover of golf, Jake taught golf lessons for many years in the Walker County School’s “Super Saturday,” and he was a volunteer with Memorial’s Auxiliary for over twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Jackson Williams and Helen Marie Wallace Williams; and his only sister, Florence Anna Hoskins; and brother-in-law, Ray L. Hoskins.
Survivors include his wife of 591⁄2 years, Joyce Hoskins Williams; niece, Anna Marie Hoskins Chambers Horne (Tim); great-nieces, Jennifer (Tommy) Duffy and Amy Renee Chambers, who brought lots of love to Jake’s life; great-nephew, Mark (Tami) Chambers; great-great-nieces and nephews, Savannah Rose, Sienna Reese Chambers and Connor Duffy; other nieces and nephews that he loved very much are Cathy and Steve Lawson, Linda Joy and O’Henry Porter and Hal Wilson Jr.; very dear lifelong friends, J.W. and Virginia Dodd and their families.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with the Rev. J.R. Caines and the Rev. Joe Dodd officiating.
Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

Helen Petty Wright, our loving mother, 83, of Soddy-Daisy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009.
Mrs. Wright was born to the late George Petty and Hester Morgan Reno Petty on Oct. 4, 1926. She retired from Oster Manufacturing and was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Wright; brothers, Carl, Walter and Tom Reno and Montegue Petty; sister, Lucille Hodge.

DAYTON — Michael Wayne Filyaw, 54, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, in Chattanooga.
Born in Knoxville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Virgil Dean Filyaw and Pauline Baiels Penley. Michael lived in Harrison, before moving to the Rhea County community in 2005. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Navy as a Swift Boat Coxswain.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Filyaw-Lopez, Chattanooga; stepmother, Betty Filyaw, Chattanooga, brothers, Ed (Evelyn) Hatfield, Dayton, Carl (Patty) Filyaw, Clifton, Tenn., and Alan Filyaw, Spring City; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Porter-Ward Cemetery in Spring City with the Rev. Paul Forgey officiating.

WHITWELL — James Howard Fulfer on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, went home to be with his Lord and to his loving wife of 48 years.
Born on Aug. 19, 1929 in Sequatchie, Tenn., James “Jim” Fulfer was a retired, decorated U.S. Veteran serving in the Army for over 20 years. He was also retired from Marion County High School for over 20 years, and was a member of Sequatchie First Baptist Church.
Mr. Fulfer was preceded in death by wife, Eleonore C. Fulfer; parents, James Richard and Hattie Emma Griffith Fulfer; siblings, Virginia “Gigi” Crowley, Ola Mae (Braxton) Tate, Myrtle (Jim) Belk, Billy Sam Fulfer.

JASPER — Betty Sanders McNabb, 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, in a local nursing home.
The daughter of the late Lawrence B. and Minnie Beatrice McHone Sanders, she was a member of New Beginnings Church of God and a lifelong member of the Church of God. A lifelong resident of Marion County, she was born into a family of four children, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked briefly as a bridle maker for Simco Leather Co., but “Nannie,” as she was known to a host of neighbors and friends, spent the majority of her life loving and caring for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Benjamin McNabb; sister, Frances Sewell; and brother, Willard Sanders.

Barney Morgan
DAYTON — Barney Morgan, 76, died Thursday morning, Oct. 22, 2009, at his home.
A former city editor for the Chattanooga Times, he held various posts with the paper in the sports and news departments. He became well known locally for his feature stories and popular weekly column.
He left the paper to become an administrative assistant to former County Executive Dalton Roberts and County Mayor Claude Ramsey.
He also taught English for several years at Soddy-Daisy Junior High School and Rhea Central High School. He was a graduate of Rhea Central High School and Carson Newman College, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Helen Morgan; son, Robert Green Morgan; daughter, Jeri Karil Morgan, all of Dayton; grandchildren, Jesi Morgan Robbins (Brad) Massengale, Morgan Ayn Robbins and Jamie Morgan McIntosh, all of Dayton, and Emily Grace Morgan, Crossville; great-granddaughter, Karilayn Massengale, Dayton; sister, Neva Morgan Hipshire, Dayton; brother, Clayton (Nanette) Morgan, Huntsville, Ala.; sister-in-law Nancy Morgan, Dayton; and several nieces and nephews.

ATHENS — Carolyn Spivey Wilson died Thursday morning, Oct. 22, 2009, at her residence.
A native of Scottsboro, Ala., and resident of Athens since 1947, she was a daughter of the late Claude Evans Spivey and Veda Jacobs Spivey, and was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William Bethel Wilson on Nov. 27, 2001; a sister, Lunita Spivey Ellson; and her daughter-in-law, Jean Carmichael Wilson.
She was a former member of First Baptist Church and a current member of Mars Hill Presbyterian Church both in Athens. She was a member of the charter committee that founded the McMinn County Living Hertitage Museum and is a current member of the museum guild. She was also a founding member of the Kanunsita Garden Club and the Athens Area Council for the Arts.
She was a graduate of Penn Hall Preparatory School and attended Sweet Briar College.
She is survived by her son, William Bethel Wilson Jr., of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; a daughter, Nancy Wilson Norris and Boyce Norris Jr., of Atlanta; a granddaughter, Caroline Wilson Boswell and Ross Boswell, of Memphis; a grandson, James Harwood Wilson, of Phoenix, Ariz.; two great-granddaughters, Cecilia Carmichel Boswell and Landry Louise Bowell, both of Memphis; and a niece and her husband, Diane Ellson White and Charles White, of Charlotte, N.C.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. EDT Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Mars Hill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Les Rust officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

Betty graduated Central High School in 1945 at the age of 16 and entered nurses training at Erlanger Hospital. She was a registered nurse at the office of Dr. Cecil Newell before her retirement. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Summerville Chapter 434.

ROSSVILLE — Sara Ruth Bettis Dixon, 71, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, in a local hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of North Georgia, daughter of the late Rev. Luther V. Bettis and the late Aileen Bettis Waters.
Mrs. Dixon was previously employed by Central Baptist Church as secretary to Dr. Fred Guilbert, Minister of Music. She was also pianist in several area churches including Brainerd Hills Baptist for 16 years, Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga for 10 years, and at her death was pianist at East Ridge Baptist Church.
Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her husband, Lester R. Dixon; and brother, R.L. Bettis.
She was the mother of Andra (Mike) Maples, Augusta, Ga., R. Brent (Stacy) Lyons, Charlotte, N.C., and Robert (Cara) Lyons, Chattanooga; sister of Doris (Norman) Crabtree, Henegar, Ala., Jimmy R. (Betty) Bettis, Chattanooga and Donna K. (Jim) Seales, Muscle Shoals, Ala.; step-siblings, Gary (Robbie) Waters, Jerry Waters, Patricia (Charlie) Rucker and Judy Sanders; aunt of Erica Knight-Muck, Jonathan D. Knight, Pam Price Mason, and Kerry D. Price; Nana of Tyler and Keith Maples, Andrew, Merrily and Emma Lyons, Sawyer, Tucker and Talley Lyons; several great-nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakwood Baptist Church with Dr. Darrell Henry officiating.
Interment in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

RINGGOLD — Frances Irene Clark Edwards, 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at a local nursing home.
A resident of the North Georgia area for most of her life, she was a former employee of Salem Carpet where she worked for 20 years and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Daniel Edwards; parents, Robert and Elsie Yarbrough Clark; three sisters, Evelyn Bomar, Marie Perkins, and Louise Vaughn; and four brothers, Columbus Clark, William “Tech” Clark, Lucius Clark and Skeet Clark.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Buchanan, of Lavaca, Ark., and Gail and Clarence Cothran, of Ringgold; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronny and Sue Edwards, of Villa Rica, Ga., and Johnny and Barbara Edwards, of Ringgold; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tony Buchanan officiating.
Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN — Clarice Matthews Hawkins, 81, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
She was a lifelong resident of the Ascalon Community, was a loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed sewing and wildflowers and was a member of Ascalon Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Ethel Moore Matthews; three brothers, Felix Matthews, Phillip Matthews and Troy Matthews.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years Mike Hawkins; daughter Alberta (Ken) Morrison, Trenton; four sons, Frank (Linda) Hawkins, Rising Fawn, David Hawkins, Lookout Mountain, Richard “Ricky” Hawkins, Lookout Mountain, Mike (Cindy) Hawkins Jr., Chickamauga; two sisters, Ione Miller, Joyce (Jerry) Smith; three brothers, Ralph (Ruth) Matthews, George (Marcie) Matthews, Herbert (Rachael) Matthews; four grandchildren, Dameon Scott Hawkins, Misty Hawkins, Heather Hawkins, Seth Hawkins; great-granddaughter, Lilly Ana Hawkins; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. today at Ascalon Baptist Church with the Rev. David Hale and the Rev. Stan Chambers officiating.
Burial will follow in Ascalon Cemetery.

TRENTON — Emmalene Johnson, 85, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
She lived several years at John Calvin Apartments in Chattanooga until moving to Trenton. She was a loving mother, and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, gospel music, and attended Lupton Road Baptist Church.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jeff Johnson; parents A.J. and Cora Sharpton; brothers J.P. Sharpton, Marsell Sharpton and Bill Sharpton; grandson Roger Johnson.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Kathi Johnson; R.D. and Faye Johnson; brothers John D., Herbert, and Rev. Wendell Sharpton; six grandchildren Chris, Stacy, Dusty, Andrew, and Katee Johnson, and Tanya Caldwell; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends.
