MEETINGS

* TUESDAY: Join the Chattanooga Herbies to learn about growing and using bay laurel and sample recipes. Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank Conference Room, 2009 Curtain Pole Drive off Amnicola Highway. Contact: Jane Goodin, 875-9689.

EVENTS

* TODAY: Crabtree Farms' annual Volunteer Banquet and Member Bonfire includes a pie contest and awards. Dinner will be held 5-6:30 p.m., followed by a bonfire. Pie entries are due by 6:30. 493-9155, www.crabtreefarms.org.

* TODAY: Join the national FeederWatch community to learn more about birds in your area and share your observations. This project, organized by Cornell Lab, begins this month. New participants receive a handbook, bird calendar and the lab's BirdScope newsletter. $15. Join online at www.birds.cornell.edu/pfw/.

* FRIDAY AND NOV. 15: Tennessee River Gorge Trust will host the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival at the Tennessee Aquarium. 1 Broad St. Topics include community activism, conservation and wildlife. Friday admission: $15 (adults only, includes refreshments and cash bar). Nov. 15: $10 adults, $5 children 12 and under (includes popcorn and storytelling by Jim Pfitzer). www.trgt.org.

* NOV. 21: Celebrate the fall harvest and support Williams Island Farm by attending the Fall Tractor Dinner featuring local foods, storytelling and silent auction, at 5 p.m. at the Pot Point Cabin on the Tennessee River. $50 and up.
