Police investigate stabbing, shooting, robbery

Chattanooga police are investigating several violent incidents that occurred this weekend and early Monday.

On Friday, 31-year-old Daryl Kendrick was shot in the leg during a robbery at 4903 Angela Drive, police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said in a news release.

Mr. Kendrick told police he was getting into his car when he was approached by a man who pushed a gun into his stomach and told him to "give it up," according to the release. Mr. Hendrick handed over his money and was shot in the leg. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.

Police on Monday arrested Jimmy Yearby, who was booked on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault related to a robbery, in connection with the incident.

* Police also are looking for a man who robbed a Mayfield delivery man behind the East 23rd Street Bi-Lo on Friday. Phillip Williams told police he was exiting the cargo area of his delivery truck when a man with a gun made him get on the ground and hand over his wallet, Sgt. Weary said.

Mr. Williams told police he then got back into the cargo area of his truck while the robber left the scene. Police are looking for a man in his late 20s, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds with a thin mustache and blue do-rag covering his face.

* Police are investigating an early Monday morning stabbing at 2208 Glass St. that left 27-year-old Adrian Ausberry hospitalized in serious condition. Mr. Ausberry told police he got into an altercation on the parking lot of J.J.'s Lounge, a nightclub, Sgt. Weary said.

Witnesses told police two men got into an argument about 1:30 a.m. Monday that escalated into a fight, at which time the man pulled out a knife and stabbed Mr. Ausberry in the face, chest and abdomen, Sgt. Weary said.

Police are following leads and have not made an arrest, she said.
